About the role
ENGin matches English‑fluent volunteers from around the world with Ukrainian conversation partners for weekly online conversation practice. Volunteers share their culture and perspectives while helping their partner become more confident speaking English. Our vision is a Ukraine where global connection is the norm — where people of all ages and backgrounds benefit from cross‑cultural relationships and see themselves as part of a shared global community. Since launching in 2020, ENGin has connected over 38,000 Ukrainians with over 32,000 volunteers. 99% of learners report breaking the language barrier after 3 months in the program, and 79% of participants form lasting friendships. ENGin welcomes volunteers from diverse backgrounds, interests, and experiences.
Responsibilities
- Help your partner practice conversational English
- Share what life is like where you’re from
- Build a genuine friendship through cultural exchange
- Attend weekly one‑hour video chats at a mutually convenient time
- Commit to at least 12 weeks of participation (≈1 hour/week)
Requirements
- Be over the age of 13
- English fluency
- Reliable internet connection
- Ability to commit to 1 hour/week for at least 12 weeks
- Parental/guardian consent (for teen volunteers)
Qualifications
- No prior tutoring experience required
- No Ukrainian language skills needed
Skills
