Volunteer: Medical, Nursing + Dentistry Electives (online and in-person) in Peru

About the role

This project is with a surfing-inspired sustainable development non-profit (NGO) driving the development of poor Peruvian coastal communities through a path of sustainability. We develop environmental, educational, infrastructure and socio-economic projects working hand-in-hand with local communities and international interns.

Responsibilities

• Support the understaffed hospital in Talara and the Medical post in Lobitos in specialities: Respiratory, Pediatrics, Infections, Gynecology, General Practice and Dermatology.
• Work alongside experienced & passionate people from a range of disciplines & backgrounds.
• Design and implement public health educational initiatives in Lobitos for the local population in relation to identified challenges.
• Volunteer interns work between 9am to 5pm on weekdays but evenings and weekends are free for you to spend as you wish.

Requirements

• At least an intermediate (GCSE, B1 or equivalent) level of Spanish.
• Minimum age 18.
• Basic experience or strong motivation to work as part of a team away from home.

Pay

• $811 per week for the first 2 weeks.
• Total Project Fee: $1,621 for the first 2 weeks.
• Additional fees apply for longer stays.

Schedule

• Volunteers work between 9am to 5pm on weekdays.
• Evensn and weekends are free for you to spend as you wish.

• First 2 weeks: $811 (in person).
• 3 weeks: $757 (in person).
• 4 weeks: $719 (in person).
• 2 months: $670 (in person).
• 3 months: $631 (in person).

• Rent a surfboard and head out to the waves by yourself.

• Visits to other nearby beaches and towns within hours of Lobitos to explore more Peruvian landscapes, culture & history.
