About the role
This internship set in the heart of the Peruvian Amazon offers you the opportunity to actively participate in important conservation and sustainable community development initiatives. We offer a career development program designed to provide you with a deeper level of engagement in not-for-profit conservation work where you will gain extensive practical experience in field techniques and leadership skills, enabling you to effectively advance your career and ability to make a difference.
Responsibilities
- Learn about the challenges and solutions to protecting the rainforest by working alongside scientists and conservationists.
- Gain training in writing, photography, and videography skills through one-on-one mentoring and numerous training workshops.
- Understand the scientific process and what it takes to conserve biodiversity by working alongside conservation researchers in the field.
- Meet local people and gain knowledge about the sustainability solutions they’re developing to improve their livelihoods and living standards.
- Receive weekly workshops in writing, photography, and videography skills, along with media field work training and one-on-one mentor meetings.
- Produce a professional portfolio of published multimedia work to showcase a diverse skill-set to future employers.
- Gain careers advice and development through group workshops and one-on-one tutorials to help build career confidence and insight into the various employment options.
Requirements
- Minimum age 18.
- Minimum 3 months commitment.
- Able to work in a hot (and often wet) tropical climate.
- Able to walk at least 10km per day whilst carrying personal daily supplies.
- Enjoy 4 weeks of immersion in the rainforest.
