About the role

This is a volunteer opportunity provided by Taproot Foundation, a nonprofit creating social change through pro bono connections. We are seeking a marketing and communications strategist to help us prepare for the institutional launch of our organization/project, Climate House US ("Climate House"). Climate House is a creative think tank using the arts to illustrate actionable pathways forward—and bring them to life. Its mission centers on Mythos Embodied Climate: climate change is experienced through our bodies and daily lives, communicated via universal sensory language to reintegrate understanding of climate as real in the felt sense and as a core defining issue shaping everything around us. The organization employs a Culture‑First, Show‑not‑tell approach, using cultural tools and experiential programming to meet people where they are and make solutions tangible. The organization currently has a website, a mentor, and a designer developing social media assets and guidelines, but needs an experienced communications professional to assess what exists, identify gaps, and create a practical, cohesive launch strategy that reduces the burden on the small team. The goal is to establish a strong foundation for the institutional launch and provide the team with a clear roadmap for communicating consistently before, during, and after launch.

Responsibilities

  • Review the current brand, website, messaging, social media materials, and existing launch assets.
  • Identify gaps, inconsistencies, and priority improvements.
  • Clarify how existing pieces fit together and define the audiences who need to know about the launch.
  • Develop a communications approach that is realistic for the team's capacity.
