Stoop Stories connects New York City neighbors across generations and differences to reduce loneliness and increase compassion and joy. Through documentary stories and community events, we celebrate stoop culture and highlight underrepresented communities. This opportunity is provided by Taproot Foundation, a nonprofit creating social change through pro bono connections.

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced HR professional to advise on team management and recruitment of volunteers, board members, and freelancers. This is an opportunity to bring structure and consistency to how we find, evaluate, and welcome the people who help lead and support our organization.
Responsibilities
- Review our current recruitment approach
- Design a structured process for sourcing, screening, and evaluating board candidates
- Recommend outreach channels appropriate for board-level candidates
- Build a board skills/expertise matrix aligned to our strategic priorities
- Design an onboarding checklist and timeline for new board members
- Advise on a sustainable cadence for ongoing recruitment
- Create documented, reusable recruitment and onboarding processes for volunteers, board members, and freelancers
