About the Role

Free Brands, a survivor-led nonprofit creating entrepreneurship pathways for survivors of trafficking and gender-based violence, seeks a volunteer with nonprofit governance expertise to help build an active, engaged board. This role will focus on defining clear board roles, shaping meeting practices, and developing a practical recruitment approach to support the organization's growth.

Responsibilities

• Define clear board roles and expectations
• Shape how the board meets and contributes to the organization
• Develop a practical approach to recruiting new members aligned with the mission
• Create a board development plan, including defined roles, engagement practices, and recruitment strategies

Qualifications

• Experience in nonprofit governance, particularly with small, early-stage organizations
• Understanding of the realities and challenges faced by grassroots nonprofits
• Ability to provide a grounded, practical path forward for board development
