Volunteer Grant Writer

Aim

Our programs aim to help those in need, particularly immigrant populations, and to show how unjust systems marginalize people. We encourage our followers to put their faith into action to address injustice.

Programs

• Fireside Chats - Explore issues of current social justice interest.
• The Weekly Word - A weekly email featuring different faith leaders discussing social justice issues.
• English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) program - Free virtual and in-person instruction for English language learners in collaboration with JVS.
• Grab & Go meal program - A food assistance program for people experiencing homelessness and food insecurity.
• Newsletter - Social justice and event news highlights, spiritual reflections by theologians.
• Continual Learning Opportunities - Virtual connections with subscribers, live and pre-recorded videos on social media.

Grants

We are seeking a volunteer Grant Writer to help us secure funding for our work. The Grants Writer will draft and submit proposals to foundations and other institutional funders, tailor narratives to each funder's priorities, maintain organized records, and meet with the Advancement team weekly.

Responsibilities

• Draft and submit grant proposals one or two times per month.
• Tailor narratives to each funder's priorities and application requirements.
• Maintain organized records of applications, deadlines, and funder communications.
• Work closely with the Grant Researcher to move promising prospects into submitted proposals.
• Meet weekly with the Advancement team.

Qualifications

• Previous grant writing experience, preferably in the nonprofit sector.
• Strong writing and communication skills.
• Comfortable using Excel, Word, and conducting online research for application tracking.
• A willingness to learn about AFTDJ by reviewing recent proposals.
• Availability for a weekly Advancement team meeting.
