Volunteer: Giving Tuesday Media Campaign Outreach
About the Opportunity
This volunteer role supports the Books That Build Skills Giving Tuesday campaign, a community effort to provide books and Charms Kits to children in foster care and underserved youth. The goal is to fund 300 books and 100 Charms Kits, delivering them in time for Christmas. The campaign includes a public nomination program for girls ages 10–15, inviting teachers, counselors, foster parents, and community members to participate.
Responsibilities
- Develop key messaging for the Giving Tuesday campaign.
- Write a professional press release announcing the campaign, donation drive, and community nomination program.
- Create a strategic earned media plan leading up to Giving Tuesday (December 1–15) and the December 15 deadline.
- Build a targeted media list focused on Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, and Mississippi.
- Pitch the story to reporters, editors, producers, assignment desks, and community publications.
- Conduct follow-up outreach to secure interviews and earned media coverage.
- Coordinate media opportunities with the Founder & CEO.
- Increase public awareness, encourage child nominations, and drive donations through the Giving Tuesday landing page.
- Support the campaign’s goal of funding 300 books and 100 Charms Kits for children in foster care and underserved communities.
Campaign Details
- Campaign Launch: October (all materials ready by September).
- Child Nominations: October through December 15.
- Giving Tuesday Donation Campaign: December 1–15.
- Landing Page Launch: August 19 (online donations via Zeffy, campaign progress thermometer).
- Google Ads Campaign: Begins in September to drive traffic.

The Founder & CEO is available for in-person TV interviews and virtual radio, podcast, newspaper, and community interviews in these markets, as well as nationwide.
About the Program
The Foster Futures Reading Program provides books and Charms Kits to children in foster care and underserved communities, removing financial barriers to literacy. The Charms Book Series is designed for girls ages 10–15, combining story-driven adventures with life skills, STEM awareness, and career exploration to build confidence and curiosity.
This campaign is a collaborative effort, with the organization providing campaign messaging, program details, logos, high-quality photos, and responsive support from the Founder & CEO. The volunteer will have access to all necessary resources to begin outreach immediately.
