Volunteer: Fundraising Strategy/Development Plan
About the role
This is a volunteer opportunity provided by Taproot Foundation, a nonprofit creating social change through pro bono connections. Partners in Resilience (PIR) is a young 501(c)(3) that invests in young adults who've aged out of a Kenyan children's home, helping them build real, viable businesses rather than offering charity. The organization’s fundraising is currently founder‑driven, lacking a written strategy, donor pipeline, recurring‑giving plan, grant‑seeking approach, or system to turn one‑time donors into long‑term supporters. A new website with donation capability and a newsletter exist but are without strategy. The founder seeks a consultant to develop a practical, usable fundraising/development plan that includes: a donor strategy for identifying, segmenting, and growing the donor base (individuals, foundations, corporate) beyond the personal network; a 12‑month fundraising calendar outlining campaigns, asks, recurring giving, and grant deadlines; recommendations for tools or systems; and guidance on how to engage incoming board members with fundraising experience. Success looks like having a clear, written plan the board and founder can actually run with to build a sustainable fundraising engine. Partners in Resilience, Inc. Responsibilities
- Create a donor strategy that maps how to identify, segment, and grow the donor base (individuals, foundations, corporate) beyond the founder's personal network.
- Develop a 12‑month fundraising calendar that outlines campaigns, asks, recurring giving, and grant deadlines.
- Provide recommendations for tools or systems to support fundraising efforts.
- Offer guidance on how to engage incoming board members with fundraising experience to contribute to the development plan.
