This is a volunteer opportunity provided by Taproot Foundation, a nonprofit creating social change through pro bono connections. We do not currently have a prioritized pipeline of private foundations and corporate funders aligned with Mommy’s Heart, Inc.’s mission and programs. Without a researched, ranked prospect list, we lack clear, actionable funding opportunities to pursue as we expand capacity, hire essential staff, and build sustainable support for our work. We are looking for a volunteer with experience in grant writing and funding prospect research to develop a prioritized pipeline of foundation and corporate funding prospects. The volunteer will: - Review Mommy’s Heart’s mission, programs, populations served, geographic focus, funding needs, and organizational goals to inform prospect selection. - Research private, family, and community foundations whose priorities align with domestic violence services, legal access, family-court reform, mental health, supervised visitation, economic empowerment, children, and family stability. - Research corporate foundations and corporate giving programs aligned with our work. - Identify approximately 40 qualified foundation and corporate funding prospects. - Create a prospect spreadsheet documenting each funder’s name, website, publicly available contact information, funding priorities, geographic focus, eligibility requirements, typical award amounts when available, application process, deadlines or funding cycles, and relevant restrictions. - Identify program officers, community-relations representatives, corporate social-responsibility contacts, or other appropriate entry points when publicly available. - Evaluate and rank prospects according to mission alignment, eligibility, funding potential, accessibility, and application timing. - Recommend a next step for each priority prospect, such as requesting an introductory meeting, submitting a letter of inquiry, monitoring an upcoming funding cycle, or preparing an application. Mommy’s Heart, Inc. Mission: Mommy’s Heart, Inc. (EIN 87-4833078) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to protecting children and safeguarding the constitutional rights of fit parents. We support parents and children affected by domestic violence who face legal retaliation and complex legal, social, and economic barriers after seeking safety and protection. Through advocacy, education, workforce development, and community-based services, we promote due process, equal access to justice, and accountability in family courts while advancing child-centered reforms that help survivors achieve safety, independence, healing, and lasting justice.
