Volunteer: Financial Modeling — Digital Academy, Ghost Kitchen & Corporate Sponsorship
About the Opportunity
This is a volunteer pro bono engagement provided by Taproot Foundation, a nonprofit creating social change through skilled volunteer connections. Face Friends Foundation is an all-volunteer, fully virtual nonprofit in its early growth stage. We are operationally active and mission-driven but lack a financial strategist on our team—this gap is the single greatest obstacle to our growth.
We have three core revenue streams: a Digital Online Academy, a Culinary Incubator Ghost Kitchen, and a Corporate Sponsorship Program. Each represents achievable revenue, but without sound financial models, we cannot price programs credibly, present realistic projections to funders and landlords, or make confident decisions about prioritization.
The absence of financial expertise—not ambition or commitment—is hindering our progress. While our leadership team has attempted to address this internally, mission-driven volunteers are not financial strategists. This project will provide the clarity and credibility needed to move forward confidently in grant applications, corporate partnerships, and resource allocation decisions.
Deliverables
- Revenue and Cost Assumptions: A clear, realistic set of financial assumptions for each revenue stream, grounded in nonprofit industry benchmarks and our operational reality as an all-volunteer, early-stage organization.
- Break-Even Analysis: An analysis for each revenue stream showing the enrollment volume, kitchen utilization rate, or sponsorship level required to cover costs and generate net revenue.
- 12- to 24-Month Revenue Projections: Month-by-month projections for each stream individually and combined, illustrating a realistic growth trajectory over the project horizon.
What Success Looks Like
Upon completion, our leadership team will confidently answer three critical questions: Where is our money coming from? When will it arrive? How does it contribute to our $150,000 facility escrow target?
- Stronger Grant Applications: Funders will see realistic projections backed by sound financial principles, not just optimism.
- More Serious Corporate Engagement: Partners will respond to our use of their language—numbers, timelines, and return on mission.
- Strategic Program Launch: Programs will launch in the right order with the right financial foundation.
This project will transform our revenue ideas into a documented financial strategy, enabling us to act with confidence. Most importantly, it will directly advance our mission of alleviating food insecurity in Gwinnett County by ensuring the Sugar Hill Workforce Academy opens—and remains open—on a sound financial foundation.
