Volunteer EMT's or Drivers

Responsibilities

• Responds to emergency and non-emergency calls for service.
• Operates ambulance safely at all times.
• Aids the Volunteer Emergency Medical Technician in providing appropriate care.
• Communicates clearly with Dispatch, the Medical Control Hospital, other responders, and hospital medical personnel.
• Inspects, refuels, stocks, cleans ambulance and equipment after a call for service.
• Notifies the Coordinator of any issues with the ambulance, equipment, or volunteers.
• Participates in training to maintain professional competencies, certificates, and licenses.

Requirements

• Driver’s training or education.
• Emergency Vehicle Operations training; certificate or other evidence of successful completion.
• Maintains Current and Valid: Nevada Driver’s license and Nevada Ambulance Attendant license.
• Speaks, reads, and writes English.
• Maintains all required licenses and certificates in active status.

Qualifications

• Continued volunteerism contingent upon maintaining all required licenses and certificates.
• Physical demands include walking, jogging, bending, stooping, climbing, crawling, squatting, standing for long periods, lifting up to 100 pounds, and utilizing critical thinking skills.
• Exposure to hazards such as vehicle traffic, body fluids, toxic agents, smoke, dust, fumes, heat, cold, noise, and odor.
• Works both inside and outside, with frequent exposure to vehicle traffic, dust, fumes, high noise levels, and extreme weather conditions.

Benefits

• Volunteer status does not provide medical care.
• Volunteers do not receive benefits.

Pay

• Driver: $75.00/run
• EMT-B: $100/run
• EMT-A: $150/run

Schedule

• Volunteers may be called to respond to emergencies and trainings.
• Shifts may vary and include weekends and holidays.
