Volunteer: Documentary Filmmaker / Biographer – Hedonisia Hawaii
About the role
This project seeks a volunteer documentary filmmaker / biographer to help tell the story of Hedonisia Hawaii, from its founding as an eco-feminist community in the Hawaiian rainforest to its rebirth as a global online platform after the 2018 Kilauea volcanic eruption.
Responsibilities
- Explore the founding and evolution of Hedonisia Hawaii
- Document the global volunteer community that shaped the project
- Examine the impact of the 2018 Kilauea volcanic eruption
- Reveal the transition from a physical eco-community to a global online platform
- Explore the life journey of founder Mojo Mustapha
Requirements
- Experience or strong interest in documentary storytelling, editing, or biography writing
- Comfortable working with archival material such as photos, videos, and written content
- Ability to communicate regularly by phone or online for ongoing conversations and collaboration
- Self-directed but open to collaboration
- Interest in stories involving culture, sustainability, gender, resilience, and social innovation
Qualifications
Preference will be given to individuals with experience in documentary filmmaking or biographical writing, as well as those with a background in sociology or women's studies.
Skills
- Strong storytelling and narrative skills
- Proficiency in video editing software
- Excellent research and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
