Volunteer Coordinator - Volunteer Services
About the role
Volunteer Coordinator at Providence St. Mary Medical Center in Apple Valley, CA. This is a part‑time position working 8‑hour variable shifts. Providence St. Mary Medical Center has served the Apple Valley community since 1956 and is recognized as one of the best regional hospitals in six types of care by U.S. News & World Report. Under the direction of the Manager of Volunteer Services, the Volunteer Services Coordinator coordinates the hospital gift shop and provides direct support to the Manager of Volunteer Services. The coordinator oversees the day‑to‑day operations of the gift shop, which operates to support the ministry, works within a budget to select and order gift shop merchandise, and is responsible for receiving, storing, and stocking that merchandise. Guidance and direction are provided by the Volunteer Services Manager, and the coordinator is expected to perform most job duties independently. This role requires understanding all aspects and activities of the Volunteer Services Department, which serves the hospital by recruiting, retaining, and recognizing an adequate, competent, and satisfied volunteer staff. Knowledge of policies and procedures for in‑service training, work hours, and services to be performed is needed. The coordinator assists the manager with scheduling volunteer services, participates in screening, training, and assigning incoming volunteers, works with the Volunteer Services manager to plan volunteer programs consistent with hospital needs, and promotes Providence and the role of the volunteer program to the community. Providence caregivers are invaluable; joining the team means contributing to a culture of patient‑focused, whole‑person care built on understanding, commitment, and mutual respect, where your voice matters and you are empowered to inspire and retain the best people.
