About the role

Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Denver has been serving Northern Colorado since 1927. We serve tens of thousands of people each year in seven ministries: Marisol Services, Early Childhood Education, Shelter Services, Catholic Charities Housing, St. Raphael Counseling, Family, Kinship, and Senior Services; and Parish & Community Engagement. A Volunteer Coordinator at Catholic Charities:

  • Supports operations and programming through the help of volunteers.
  • Engages with existing volunteers and community members to recruit, retain, and recognize the volunteer base.
  • Operates as an external-facing member of the team to welcome supporters into Catholic Charities' mission.
  • Recruits, screens, interviews, and places volunteers. Determines appropriate assignments for volunteers based on interests, skill set, and departmental needs.
  • Maintains professional ties with other service organizations/boards/committees for the benefit of the program.
  • Maintains appropriate level of contact with volunteers to support them in their efforts.

Requirements

  • Show genuine care and love for people—even on their hardest days.
  • Computer skills and use of basic software programs, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and databases to enter data, create and generate reports, and create communications and presentations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to make presentations in front of groups.
  • Organized, detailed, and thorough in record-keeping and documentation requirements.
  • Ability to stay calm and kind when others are upset.
  • Ability to hold boundaries without taking things personally.
  • Thrive in a fast-paced, sometimes chaotic environment.
  • Consider yourself a true team player.
  • Have a good sense of humor, strong resilience in the face of challenges, and a compassionate ear.
  • Experience working with people in crisis.
  • Ability to remain calm and respond appropriately in stressful and/or emergencies.
  • Understanding of the service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics and the methods best suited to meet their needs.
  • Ability to interact effectively as a team member and independently with Agency staff and with a diverse client base.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and 6 months to one year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid CO driver’s license, satisfactory driving record, and proof of insurance required.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Pay

$19 per hour
