About the role
Caring Hospice is seeking a Coordinator of Volunteers to join their team.
Responsibilities
- Recruit volunteers to perform administrative, direct patient care, or pet therapy.
- Provide orientation and ongoing training and supervision of volunteers consistent with their assigned duties and functions.
- Review appropriateness of volunteer involvement upon referral from nursing/social work personnel and place volunteers where appropriate.
- With other members of the Hospice Team, provide supervision and serve as a resource and liaison for volunteers.
- Complete IDG care plans accurately and timely.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports indicating percentage of volunteer hours provided to patients and the cost savings to hospice.
- Develop and maintain on file volunteer recruitment activity records.
- Recruit, interview, conduct orientation, and arrange training for new volunteers sufficient to satisfy Medicare COP for hospice program.
- Coordinate an annual volunteer recognition event.
- Responsible for volunteer retention, which may include support groups, telephone calls, flyers, and individual meetings with volunteers.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of training and experience required.
- Experience in program development, management, and clinical supervision preferred.
- Ability to relate to terminally ill patients, families, and their particular problems.
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, telephone, documentation, and communication skills.
- Must possess the disposition and personality to work harmoniously with a wide variety of people and all levels of staff and interact professionally as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
