Volunteer: 🐾 Build a Fundraising System Our Team Can Run
About the role
Legacy Paws Rescue is seeking a volunteer fundraising consultant to build three practical fundraising tools in partnership with the Executive Director, then hand them off so the team can run them independently. The organization focuses on prevention, education, and supporting both ends of the leash, and currently fundraises in reactive bursts. This role creates the structure to make fundraising steady, planned, and sustainable.
Responsibilities
- Build an annual fundraising calendar — a 12-month plan of campaigns, events, and giving days with clear ownership and launch dates for each.
- Design a 48-hour thank-you and receipt process — a repeatable workflow ensuring every donor receives a personal thank-you and tax receipt within two days, including handling for Facebook and PayPal Giving Fund donors.
- Create a campaign tracking and report template — a single place to log campaign goals, dollars raised, and lessons learned, plus a concise report for the board and supporters. (Individual donor records will live in a separate donor database project.)
- Hand off all three tools and walk the team through them so they are simple enough for a volunteer to run without a training manual.
What “done” looks like
- All three tools built, documented, and handed off.
- Team walkthrough completed.
- Tools are simple enough for a volunteer to operate without a training manual.
Timeline
6 to 8 weeks.

- Zeffy

Qualifications
- Experience in nonprofit fundraising or development operations.
- Proven ability to turn creative energy into systems that actually get used.
- Belief that fundraising is about connection, not just asking for money.
About Legacy Paws Rescue
Mission: At Legacy Paws, our mission is to create a community of kindness through education, prevention, and rescue. We believe the best way to change the lives of dogs is not only to rescue them when they are in crisis, but to help prevent that crisis whenever possible. We educate people about how dogs think, communicate, learn, and experience the world, while providing practical support and resources to help people and dogs succeed together. When rescue is needed, we step in for the dogs who have nowhere else to turn—especially those who are overlooked because of age, medical needs, trauma, or circumstances beyond their control. Everything we do comes back to one belief: Healing and learning happens on both ends of the leash. Rescue isn’t where we end. It’s where we begin.
