Volunteer and Membership Assistant
About the role
The Volunteer and Membership Assistant assists with the management and coordination of a variety of activities for Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary’s volunteer and membership programs and works towards strengthening these important supporter groups. Activities include volunteer and member recruitment and sales, communications, programming, event planning and delivery, and data tracking.
This position is classified as part-time, 25 hours a week, and on-site based at Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary in Naples, FL. Compensation is $19.00 - $20.00 / hour.
Essential Functions
- Collaborate with Visitor Center staff to promote volunteer recruitment and membership sales.
- Handle membership communications including phone calls, in-person inquiries, and email.
- Manage volunteer and membership databases to ensure information is up to date and accurate.
- Use a range of software to produce reports and transfer or upload data to support programs.
- Create events for programs and social functions, and new member profiles in Ticketure software.
- Support the planning and delivery of programs and events, including post-event support.
- Draft newsletters and upload contact lists for renewal reminders.
- Process membership purchases and refunds of daily admission fees for new membership purchases.
- Track volunteer compliance for background checks, training, and other requirements.
- Maintain inventory for radios and other equipment and supplies.
- Work with IT Help Desk and use Asana software to resolve digital platform issues.
- Track budget expenses, place new orders, and replenish program materials.
- Oversee scheduling for the monthly boardwalk closing calendar.
- Perform end-of-day facility closure by clearing the boardwalk of visitors as required.
- Maintain and foster a culture of safety.
Qualifications and Experience
- A GED, Vocational, or high school diploma required and a minimum of 1 year of experience.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered.
- Experience in customer service, data management, communications, and marketing.
- Experience in administrative support is preferred.
- Self-driven with the ability to work well in a team setting as well as independently.
- Very organized with the ability to multi-task.
- Excellent writing and communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products and comfortable working with software databases, and internet research.
- Non-profit experience with volunteer or membership programs a plus.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and evenings on occasion.
- Ability to lift up to 15 lbs. and traverse at least 3 miles in a variety of weather conditions with or without accommodation.
