About the role
Multnomah Athletic Club (MAC) is seeking a part-time Volleyball Coach to support their competitive volleyball programming. This role works closely with the Volleyball Lead Coach and Assistant Coaches to deliver high-quality training, competition support, and a positive athlete experience.
Responsibilities
- Plan and assist with team practices, including setting individual and team performance goals
- Teach and reinforce volleyball skills, game strategy, and rules in coordination with the Volleyball Lead Coach
- Evaluate athlete performance and provide constructive, age-appropriate feedback
- Support competitive play by assisting with tournaments and match-day coaching
- Communicate effectively with athletes and families using TeamSnap for schedules, updates, and announcements
- Respond professionally and promptly to parent questions, comments, and concerns
- Occasionally instruct clinics, group lessons, and private lessons
- Attend all required program meetings and participate in team bonding activities
- Represent MAC positively at all times—on-site, off-site, and in all communications with coaches, referees, parents, and participants
- Stay current on competitive volleyball rules, techniques, and best practices through professional development opportunities
- Comply with all MAC safety policies, identifying and reporting unsafe work conditions and workplace injuries
- Comply with all USAV, CEVA, and SafeSport requirements
- Promote the MAC mission, values, and commitment to high-quality member service
- Maintain regular, reliable, and predictable attendance
- Local and occasional out-of-state travel required for tournaments
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of volleyball playing experience (school, club, collegiate, intramural, or adult league)
- Strong planning, organizational, and communication skills
- Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office and scheduling platforms
- Ability to work effectively in a service-oriented, member-focused environment
Preferred
- Youth coaching experience
- Experience working in club or competitive volleyball programs
- Certifications: Current CPR, AED, First Aid, and SafeSport certifications, or ability to obtain within three months of hire
