Vocational Specialist
Full-time Master Level Counselor – Vocational Specialist position with RiseWell Community Services’ Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) Program in Medford, NY.
About the Role
RiseWell’s ACT teams provide a full suite of treatment to individuals dealing with serious mental illness, aiming to prevent relapse, teach valuable life skills, provide assistance, and connect individuals with essential community resources so they can thrive in work, school, home life, and social relationships. As a Vocational Specialist on a collaborative, mobile, multi‑disciplinary team, you will integrate expertise in supported employment, job development, and rehabilitation methods to help clients build skills in their environments of choice, working both in the office and in the community.
Responsibilities
Act as a member of a mobile, multi‑disciplinary treatment team for persons with severe and persistent mental illness. Integrate information and expertise on supported employment, job development, and rehabilitation methods that assist the client with developing skills in his or her environments of choice. Provide tailored care and guidance to participants and families, utilizing your professional experience to support recovery and community integration.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree or higher in social work, psychology, mental health counseling, or marriage and family therapy (rehabilitation counseling accepted; C.R.C. preferred)
- Valid, clean New York State driver’s license
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a treatment or rehabilitation setting
- Fingerprinting and criminal record check clearance
- Approval from NYS Office of Mental Health
