VMI Technician
Location: San Leandro, CA - Retail shop
About the role
The VMI Technician delivers and services key vending account customers and customer cabinets/storerooms relative to inventory of gases, consumables, and safety products. This position focuses on servicing existing accounts throughout an assigned territory and provides excellent customer service to both internal and external customers. Responsibilities include:
- Delivery and replenishment of various industrial products, vending machines, or storeroom items.
- Performing basic troubleshooting and repair of mechanical systems as needed.
- Reviewing manual stock levels of various inventories at multiple plant departments for reorder.
- Maintaining dedicated branch inventory levels for proper replenishment.
- Tracking and turning in delivery tickets and consignment fill tickets.
- Commuting to assigned customer sites to manage customer service relationships and packaged gas inventory of Airgas cylinders/VGLs.
- Supporting any reasonable work request that falls within qualifications.
- Upholding all safety rules and promptly reporting accidents or injuries to management.
- Maintaining a neat, clean, and professional personal appearance.
- Fostering a positive work atmosphere through effective communication and alignment with customers, vendors, co-workers, and management.
Requirements
- Valid US Driver’s License.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in product distribution or inventory management.
- Ability to work in both indoor and outdoor environments in various seasonal weather conditions.
- Willingness to visit various Airgas and customer sites with varying environments, layouts, and accessibility.
- Ability to work in environments that may contain loud noises and/or odors for extended periods.
Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent; Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Welding Technology, or Sales preferred.
- Experience with welding and safety products or related industrial products.
- Proficient working knowledge of Google Suite (Gmail, Sheets, Docs, etc.).
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently and under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Strong planning skills and outstanding personal relationship skills.
- Clear and effective speaking manner for explaining information to customers and employees.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a high level of attention to detail.
- Comfortable interacting with a wide variety of people with different personalities and backgrounds.
- Ability to solve practical problems in situations with limited standardization.
Pay
The hourly base pay range for this position in California is $25.00 - $26.00.
