About the role

Karya is seeking a talented Visual & Motion Designer to join our remote team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in graphic design with a focus on motion, capable of translating static ideas into engaging visual narratives. This role is centered around creating motion-led learning content and visual storytelling assets that enhance understanding for diverse audiences, including rural, multilingual, and first-time smartphone users. The designer will work within the Storytelling Team, collaborating closely with Product Design, Instructional Design, and Brand teams to develop visual systems, storyboards, and motion assets. The primary goal is to produce clear, accessible, and effective visual content that supports learning and communication objectives. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to impactful projects that improve digital literacy and facilitate meaningful engagement with AI-enabled technologies. The role emphasizes design clarity, systems thinking, and purposeful motion, rather than cinematic or social-media-focused content.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years of experience in graphic design with a strong focus on motion design
• Proficiency in Adobe After Effects
• Experience with design tools such as Illustrator, Figma, or Canva
• Basic knowledge of Premiere Pro for simple edits
• Strong understanding of layout, visual hierarchy, typography, and iconography
• Experience in storyboarding and information design
• Ability to simplify complex ideas visually before animation
• Familiarity with lightweight animation formats like Lottie and simple transitions
• Curiosity about visual learning processes and cognitive engagement
• Excellent collaboration skills and ability to iterate quickly based on feedback

Responsibilities

• Design storyboards, frames, and visual systems to guide motion content development
• Create motion-first learning materials, including static visuals, audio-visual videos, simple animations, voiceover explainers, and walkthroughs
• Translate scripts and concepts into clear visual sequences using layout, iconography, typography, and motion
• Develop reusable motion templates and visual systems aligned with Karya’s branding guidelines
• Collaborate with content writers, instructional designers, product teams, and brand managers to ensure clarity, accessibility, and consistency
• Iterate designs rapidly, starting from low fidelity and refining through testing and feedback
• Prioritize clarity and educational effectiveness over visual cleverness, especially for low-literacy or first-time digital users
• Maintain visual consistency across all motion assets and contribute to the development of scalable design systems
