About the role
Product Education helps people understand what a solution can do and how to get the most out of it through various learning content. As the library of educational video content grows, a designer is needed to give that content a consistent, polished visual identity and help make complex ideas easy to follow. This role is a good fit for someone who enjoys visualizing abstract ideas and wants to build the design foundation that a growing content function will rely on for years.
Responsibilities
- Design visual assets for educational videos, including diagrams, motion graphics, animations, and on-screen text treatments that clarify complex or technical topics.
- Partner with producers, writers, and subject matter experts to turn technical concepts into visuals that are accurate and easy to understand.
- Develop and maintain a visual language and design system for product education content, spanning video, in-product guidance, and written materials.
- Build and maintain design systems, and create reusable templates, motion presets, and components that let the broader team produce consistent content efficiently.
- Design storyboards and visual elements for educational videos, working closely with motion designers.
- Collaborate with video producers and editors to integrate designed assets into finished videos.
- Design thumbnails across the content library to be consistent and inviting.
- Design badges and other visual markers that recognize what someone has learned.
- Adapt educational content into social-ready assets.
- Review and refine designs based on feedback from stakeholders and content performance.
- Identify opportunities to improve the visual quality or clarity of existing content.
- Stay current on motion design, information design, and educational content trends relevant to technical audiences.
Requirements
- Strong design systems experience and a portfolio that includes explainer videos, motion graphics, or other work that makes complex ideas visually clear.
- Experience building or contributing to a visual design system or style guide.
- Skilled with design and motion tools such as Figma, After Effects, and Illustrator.
- Ability to take a technical or abstract concept and find an intuitive visual metaphor or structure.
- Strong eye for typography, color, layout, and motion.
- Comfortable designing across formats—video, thumbnails, web, and social.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with producers, writers, engineers, and motion designers.
- Comfortable managing several video projects at once, often with fast turnaround times.
- Self-directed and proactive in improving content and systems.
- Excited about making AI concepts accessible and understandable to a broad audience.
