About the role

Join our team as a welcoming frontline presence for visitors at the Worcester Art Museum. This part-time, entry-level position offers an opportunity to gain experience in a vibrant museum environment while engaging directly with the public. You will play a key role in shaping each visitor’s journey by greeting guests, answering questions, sharing information about exhibitions and programs, and ensuring a positive experience.

Responsibilities

  • Greet visitors and provide information about exhibitions, programs, and memberships.
  • Use point-of-sale systems to process admissions, memberships, and donations.
  • Assist visitors in understanding Museum policies related to artwork, photography, bags, and food.
  • Handle cash transactions and complete basic end-of-shift reconciliation accurately.
  • Maintain visitor center materials and spaces.
  • Communicate clearly with supervisors and colleagues.

Requirements

  • Commitment to outstanding customer service and professionalism.
  • Comfort using point-of-sale systems and handling cash/credit card transactions.
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills.
  • Reliability, regular attendance, and ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Weekend availability required; some evening availability may be needed.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.

Pay

Starting rate: $15.50 per hour.

Schedule

Part-time, non-exempt position. Weekend availability is required, with some evening shifts as needed. Priority given to applicants available to work both Saturdays and Sundays consistently.
