About the role
The School of Criminology, Society, and Politics (SCSP) in the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) at the University of New England (UNE) invites applications for a one-year, full-time Visiting Assistant Teaching Professor in anthropology and sociology, starting in August 2026.
Responsibilities
- Teach undergraduate courses in medical anthropology and medical sociology with the potential to add courses including introduction to sociology, crime and deviance, and contemporary social theory, as well as additional courses in their area(s) of expertise based on the needs of the school and college.
- The typical teaching load is the equivalent of 12 credits per semester.
- Demonstrate the capacity for excellence in teaching, and also engage in curriculum development and participate in academic advising, recruiting, course and program assessment, and service to the school, college and university.
Qualifications
- A master's degree in Anthropology, Sociology, Criminology or a closely related field is required at the time of appointment; preference will be given to candidate with a Ph.D. and/or those with a combination of education and professional experience that provide commensurate qualifications.
- Applicants with training in anthropology, sociology, criminology, public health, and closely related interdisciplinary fields are encouraged to apply, as are those who can contribute to course development in areas of criminology and health, medicine, and society that complement current university growth areas.
