About the role

The position is a one-year Visiting Assistant Professor of Anthropology, starting September 1, 2026.

Responsibilities

  • Teach six courses over three ten-week trimesters
  • Contribute to interdisciplinary programs and the Complex Questions general education curriculum
  • Develop courses in their area of expertise
  • Engage in research and scholarly activities

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in anthropology in hand
  • Teaching experience preferred, but ABD candidates and those from closely related fields are welcome
  • Research and teaching abilities

Qualifications

  • Research addressing gender, anthropology of religion (Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism), linguistic anthropology, medical anthropology, anthropology of education, family and kinship, and anthropology of childhood
  • Preference for geographic expertise in Sub-Saharan Africa, the Caribbean, the Middle East, South, East, or Southeast Asia, or among indigenous people of Oceania or the Americas

Pay

The annual salary range for this position is $68,500-$70,500.
