Visiting Assistant Professor of Sociology
Responsibilities
- Teaching 7 undergraduate courses in the Department of History and Social Sciences, 3 in the fall, 4 in the spring.
- Potential courses to be taught include: Introduction to Anthropology, Introduction to Sociology, Social Inequalities, and an upper-level course of the candidate’s choice.
- Engagement in evidence-informed pedagogy to teach undergraduate students in classroom and laboratory settings.
- Record of research or a willingness to develop in the area of Sociology.
- Effective collaboration with colleagues across the university to complete tasks and goals.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in sociology, anthropology, or related field.
- PhD in sociology, anthropology, or related field preferred.
- Two semesters of undergraduate teaching experience during or after completion of graduate school or two semesters as a graduate teaching assistant.
- A commitment to undergraduate education and collaboration with students and faculty.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Benefits
This is a one year, 9-month position with a salary of $50,000 per academic year. This also comes with $500 in professional development funds to be used for conference or research travel or other acceptable professional expenses in the 2026/27 academic year. Additional professional development funds are available at the college and university levels through application.

The salary for this position is $50,000 per academic year.
