About the Position

The University of Wisconsin-Superior is hiring a Visiting Assistant Professor of Psychology to begin January 10, 2027, or August 23, 2027. Psychology is an undergraduate program offered both online and on campus. A strong commitment to undergraduate teaching is essential. Preferred candidates will be able to effectively teach a variety of courses which may include some selection of Introduction to Psychology, courses in cognitive or social psychology, and/or statistics. Key Responsibilities

  • Teach 12 credits per semester (including a mix of on-campus and online courses)
  • Engage in professional development related to teaching and learning
  • Collaborate in curricular development in the psychology program
  • Engage in the program's High Impact Practices (such as Academic Service-Learning) if assigned to courses containing those components
  • Engage in program service activities such as assessment, scheduling, marketing, recruitment and retention, community partner outreach and recruitment, and other program related support as designated by the program
  • Participate in Department business and engage in limited Department service as needed
  • Complete required trainings and professional development as assigned
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Psychology; an ABD in Psychology will be considered with an earned doctorate required prior to start date
  • Willingness to engage in course design and teach in multiple modalities
  • University-level teaching (or teaching assistant) experience
  • Candidates must be independently, legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire and maintain their work authorization without the support or help of UW-Superior throughout employment. UW-Superior is not an E-Verify employer; therefore, it cannot employ individuals on the STEM OPT extension.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Engagement with professional development related to best practices in teaching and learning, including for asynchronous online teaching
  • University-level asynchronous online teaching experience

Compensation

Salary range for this position is $53,000 - $56,000 annually.
