About the role

The Visitation Specialist provides supportive services to the Child Welfare cases under the direction of the Supervisor. This position transports children and biological parents to necessary appointments and visits. This position also supervises visits and documents notes and performs additional needs as related to the Child Welfare Department.

Responsibilities

  • Transports children and/or families in the Child Welfare Program.
  • Completes transportation logs.
  • Captures and documents notes during visits.
  • Schedules and coordinates visits for biological parents and children.
  • Attends case review meetings, Family Team Meetings (FTM), and case conferences to maximize coordination and continuity of services.
  • Transports client case paperwork to court.
  • Follows all expectations as written in Catholic Charities West Michigan transportation policy / safe driving practice.
  • Maintains and cleans agency vehicles/car seats on a weekly basis.
  • Maintains and cleans visit areas daily.
  • Coordinates routine maintenance of Agency vehicles.
  • Files paperwork and conducts concurrent audit reviews of client case records.
  • Keeps records of daily tasks/duties for monthly statistics.
  • Attends program meetings as required.
  • Drives for Agency business.
  • Performs other special assignments at supervisor’s request.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma, GED, or Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, or a Human Service related area preferred.
  • One year experience working with children and families preferred.

Skills

  • Ability and willingness to transport clients within a large geographic area.
  • Flexibility to work non-traditional hours.
  • Efficient in time management and multi-tasking.
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficient in related computer applications including Microsoft Office.
  • Strong conflict management skills.
  • Proficient knowledge of computers, smartphones, GPS, and online calendars.
  • Identifies the safety needs of a child and maintains that as a priority daily.
