VIS AST PROF

This is a nine-month, non-tenure-accruing Visiting Assistant Professor position, time-limited to no more than two academic years, beginning August 16, 2026.

About the Role

The Department of Mathematics at the University of Florida seeks candidates for a Visiting Assistant Professor position. The area of specialization is open, but preference will be given to applicants whose research interests align with those of current faculty. Those hired will join a vibrant department of approximately 60 faculty and 85 graduate students pursuing research in a broad array of pure and applied areas. Active participation in the department’s research activities is expected.

The teaching assignment is 2-2 with the possibility of 2-1 subject to course demands and available resources.

The University of Florida has made significant investments in faculty and infrastructure, including HiPerGator, one of the most powerful high-performance computers at a US public university, and the new AI NVIDIA GPU SuperPod to support AI initiatives in higher education and research. These facilities are available to all faculty to enhance teaching and research.

The university is located in Gainesville, a city of approximately 150,000 residents in North-Central Florida, offering a mild climate, extensive parks, and proximity to major metropolitan areas.

Responsibilities

• Teach a 2-2 course load (with potential for 2-1 based on departmental needs).
• Actively participate in the department’s research activities.

Requirements

• A Ph.D. in Mathematics or a closely related field is required by the start date.
• Strong promise in research and teaching.
