AST PROF
Tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Mathematical and Computational Foundations of Artificial Intelligence (AI), beginning August 16, 2026.
About the Role
The Department of Mathematics at the University of Florida seeks a candidate with an established research program, a compelling plan for future research, the ability to supervise both graduate and undergraduate research, and a record of excellence in teaching.
The successful candidate will join a department of approximately 60 faculty and 85 graduate students pursuing research across a wide range of pure and applied areas. The University of Florida is consistently ranked among the top public universities in the United States and offers numerous cultural events and year-round outdoor activities in Gainesville.
The university has recently invested heavily in faculty hires and infrastructure, including new classroom and laboratory facilities. UF is home to HiPerGator, one of the most powerful university supercomputers in the U.S., and the AI NVIDIA GPU SuperPOD supporting UF’s campus-wide AI initiative. These resources are available to all faculty to support teaching and research.
Requirements
- A PhD degree in Mathematics or a closely related field
- The ability to supervise both graduate and undergraduate research

Pay
Expected salary range: $95,000–$105,000, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Includes a full benefits package.
