Virtualization Systems Engineer

Brief Description The Opportunity NTS is seeking a Virtualization Systems Engineer that can support the design, test, integration and maintenance of the P25 Astro CORE System for Diplomatic Security’s (DS) Law Enforcement Radio Program (LERP) The Virtualization Engineer designs, develops and implements integrated software and hardware solutions in virtualized enterprise and consumer systems. Responsible for systems planning, performance management, capacity planning, testing and validation, benchmarking, and information engineering. Evaluates and troubleshoots systems and ensures efficient delivery of systems contract capabilities. Mitigates risks, controls costs and schedule variance, and effectively manages large scale, integrated projects. Key Responsibilities (Principal Duties and Accountabilities *Essential Functions) Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for virtual systemsDevelops, deploys and supports customized VMware solutionsCreates and maintains as built and other systems drawings (flowcharts, Visio diagrams)Interprets and implements security baseline configurations for all system componentsDesigns and implements system security and data assuranceAnalyzes user requirements, procedures, and problems to automate or improve existing systemsTroubleshoots technical issues, and develops and implements solutionsIdentifies system integrity issues and solutions for the full system life cycleConducts technical training and product briefings with customersSupports operational and maintenance phase for as-built systemsParticipates in special projects as requiredSupport travel operations on behalf of customer, providing on-site technical assistance as required Requirements Fluency in English (written and spoken)Must have Active Secret or higher security clearance with the U.S. GovernmentMust be able to obtain Department of State class 1 medical clearance Education Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education & experience Required Skills, Experience & Abilities 7+ years of experience in systems engineering including virtual network analysis, design & installationFoundational networking knowledge including IP addressing, subnetting, basic routing and switching, and LAN/WAN configurationDemonstrates the ability to support travel operations on behalf of PTB, providing on-site technical assistance as required.Demonstrates knowledge of R.F. systems, such as transmitters, receivers, antenna networks and dedicated data circuits. Preferred Qualifications Experience with logging recording systems, RF interfaces, wired/wireless communications systems.Experience With Communications System Analyzers, Spectrum Analyzers, and line sweep analyzers usingFrequency Domain Reflectometry.Experience with Astro CORE applications such as KMF, UNC, PM, UEM, ZW and ZC Physical Demands & Work Environment The physical demands and work environment described are representative of those that an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Summary Work Locations will include NTS-Gainesville, IMDC – Manassas, Sterling and multiple DoS locations around the DC area. There will be the possibility of international travel to support the contract. OCONUS travel may include critical threat locations around the world with austere living conditions. Compensation The base salary range for this position is $150,000-$165,000 Actual compensation will be determined based on factors including relevant experience, qualifications, skills, location, and internal equity.
