Virtualization Engineer

About the role

Leidos is seeking a Virtualization Engineer to support the Compartmented Enterprise Services Office (CESO) Task Order for the GIG Service Management – Operations II (GSM‑O II) contract. The position requires a seasoned, self‑motivated professional with at least 10 years of hands‑on engineering and testing experience in virtualized on‑premise and cloud environments, and expertise in developing and implementing a VMware ESXi infrastructure. The role will help transform the existing Secure Web Services (SWS) environment into a mature service offering for the DoD and IC community, manage commercial cloud migration, automate CI/CD pipelines, consolidate fourth‑estate services, professionalize ITIL/DevSecOps processes, improve first‑call resolution, and develop a service catalog for the Defense Working Capital Fund (DWCF) model. This position is 100 % onsite in Arlington, VA with occasional travel in and outside the Washington Metro Area.

Primary Responsibilities

• Provide Tier 3 support to members of the operations virtualization administrators.
• Maintain all hardware and software components at vendor‑supported levels.
• Maintain expert knowledge of ESXi hosts, clusters, and vSAN.
• Support mission‑critical Continuity of Operations (COOP).
• Develop and/or participate in After Action Reports (AARs).
• Provide expert advice and direction regarding the management and operation of all VMware clusters in the DISA CESO enterprise architecture.
• Evaluate current technologies and processes associated with DISA CESO to identify gaps.
• Provide requirements and strategies for future cybersecurity operations.
• Actively participate in meetings with DISA CESO and mission‑partner working groups.
• Adhere to applicable DoD STIGs, DISA orders, and JSIG policy, guidelines, and regulations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and 8 + years of directly relevant experience (additional experience may be considered in lieu of degree).
• 6 + years of hands‑on VMware experience in engineering, operations, and maintenance roles.
• Strong knowledge of VMware concepts and best practices.
• Experience working in a high‑tempo, Top Secret environment.
• Active DoD TS/SCI security clearance.
• Willingness to obtain and maintain a CI/Poly 8570 IAT Level II Baseline Certification (e.g., CCNA Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, CND, SSCP).

Preferred Qualifications

• VMware Certified Professional (VCP) certification desired.
• Prior experience with DISA and DISA’s support to mission partners.

Pay Range

Salary range: $107,900.00 – $195,050.00. The Leidos pay range is a general guideline and not a guarantee of compensation; final offers consider responsibilities, education, experience, skills, internal equity, market data, and applicable agreements.
