About the role

The Physical Therapist is responsible for the evaluation, treatment, and discharge planning of all patients referred for their services. The Physical Therapist I is an integral healthcare provider accountable for assisting the patient to their highest level of physical, cognitive, linguistic, and swallowing function. The Physical Therapist I will uphold the mission, vision, and values of Jefferson Health and works in conjunction with other healthcare professionals to coordinate treatment plans and care.

Responsibilities

  • Provide therapy evaluations, treatment planning, treatment interventions, and discharge planning for a full patient caseload in acute care, skilled facility, acute rehab, and outpatient settings as appropriate.
  • Participate in student education (e.g., part-time ICE, OT level 1, or full-time student).
  • Participate in education and teaching commensurate with a novice clinician.
  • Plan, organize, and deliver treatment programs that help clients/patients recover and rehabilitate.
  • Utilize tools and techniques to administer safe therapeutic interventions and training for patients and families.
  • Record and document clients/patients' health progress information for evaluation, including daily treatments, progress notes, evaluations, and discharge summaries.
  • Interact with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctorate degree from an accredited Physical Therapy Program.
  • Licensed Physical Therapist in the State of Pennsylvania.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.

Physical Demands

  • Lift and carry 40-50 lbs (e.g., push/pull patients on bed or stretcher requiring 29 lbs. push force, lateral transfers up to 50 lbs. of the patient's weight).
  • Frequent to continuous standing/walking (e.g., patient transporters may walk 8-10 miles per shift).
  • Perform activities specific to the role, including kneeling, bending, squatting, and performing CPR.

Schedule

Rotating shift (United States of America).
