About the role

The Physical Therapist is responsible for the evaluation, treatment, and discharge planning of all patients referred for their services. The Physical Therapist I is an integral healthcare provider accountable for assisting the patient to their highest level of physical, cognitive, linguistic, and swallowing function while upholding the mission, vision, and values of Jefferson Health. Works in conjunction with other healthcare professionals to coordinate treatment plans and care.

Responsibilities

• Provide therapy evaluations, treatment planning, treatment interventions, and discharge planning for a full patient caseload in acute care, skilled facility, acute rehab, and outpatient settings as appropriate.
• Participate in student education (e.g., part-time ICE, OT level 1, or full-time student).
• Plan, organize, and deliver treatment programs to help clients/patients recover and rehabilitate.
• Utilize tools and techniques to administer safe therapeutic interventions and training for patients and families.
• Record and document clients/patients' health progress, including daily treatments, progress notes, evaluations, and discharge summaries.
• Interact with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctorate degree from an accredited Physical Therapy Program.
• Licensed Physical Therapist in the State of Pennsylvania.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.

Physical Demands

• Lift and carry 40-50 lbs (e.g., push/pull patients on a bed or stretcher requiring 29 lbs. push force, lateral transfers up to 50 lbs. of the patient's weight).
• Frequent to continuous standing/walking (patient transporters may walk 8-10 miles per shift).
• Perform activities specific to the role, including kneeling, bending, squatting, and performing CPR.
