Virtual Environment Lead - Army Command

About the role

Provides technical leadership for virtualized environments in support of an Army command and its mission partners to ensure secure, reliable, and optimized virtualized solutions in support of operations.

Responsibilities

• Plans, modernizes and sustains virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) and virtual server environments.
• Maintains and supports coalition network integration with VDI thin client end users.
• Manages VDI systems to support increased usage during operations and implements solutions to prevent downtime.
• Oversees access control management of VDI systems.

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience in VDI administration and management, including virtual desktops, cross-domain access solutions, and VDI.
• Experience with major VDI platforms, such as VMware Horizon, Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops, or Azure Virtual Desktop.
• Experience with virtualization technologies such as hypervisors like VMware ESXi or Hyper-V.
• Experience with networking concepts, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, SSL/TLS, storage solutions, such as SAN or NAS, and VDI environment security policies.
• Experience with scripting and automation tools, such as PowerShell, Python, or Bash, for VDI management.
• Experience with monitoring VDI performance, identifying bottlenecks, and optimizing the environment for a smooth user experience.
• Experience with leading technical teams and cross-functional stakeholders through complex initiatives, and briefing senior leaders and non-technical stakeholders on complex technical issues, translating risk, tradeoffs, and recommendations into clear, actionable guidance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in computer science, information technology, or a related field.
• Secret clearance.

Skills

• Experience with VMware Certified Professional – Desktop and Mobility, Citrix Certified Professional – Virtualization, Nutanix Certified Professional, or Microsoft Certified - Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Certification.
