Virtual Business Banker II
About the role
The Virtual Business Banker II (VBB II) is responsible for daily operations, execution, and support of inbound/outbound phone-based retention and sales efforts in a virtual environment. The VBB II focuses on proactively retaining and deepening relationships with an existing portfolio of complex and high-net-worth small business owners by cross-selling additional business products and services. The role involves building relationships to source additional products and services through outbound phone activities, understanding complex business cash flow cycles, and applying advanced business credit sales skills during client interactions using a multi-touch contact strategy and sales process.
These customers typically include Business Banker customers, such as those in complex Business Banker Manager, Senior Manager, and Director portfolios.
Responsibilities
- Manage, retain, and deepen relationships within an assigned book of business while acquiring new relationships through leads, referrals, and sales campaigns.
- Build and foster partnerships with internal teams (Treasury Management Officer, Merchant Services, Business Card Reps, Market Credit Exec, Sales Support) to support customers.
- Multitask effectively in a virtual setting while proactively engaging clients and prospects.
- Navigate customer relationship management software and other relevant applications simultaneously.
- Utilize the Sales Relationship Management system to log calls, pipeline activities, and sales results.
- Maintain a regular calling cadence to generate high-quality new deposit, treasury, and lending business to meet or exceed targets.
- Demonstrate a proficient understanding of complex business cash flow cycles, including treasury management, operating cash flow, and business financial statements.
- Assess customer needs and recommend alternative products or solutions through defined sales processes.
- Establish rapport with clients and prospects, maintain product and service knowledge, and recommend appropriate solutions based on the business’ operating model.
- Refer customers to appropriate channels for complex Treasury Management and Merchant Service product needs and follow up to ensure engagement.
- Resolve problems or refer servicing issues to the appropriate call center or support associate.
- Adhere to risk management and compliance protocols in all client and prospect interactions, including regulatory requirements and internal policies.
- Collaborate on special projects or initiatives as assigned.
- Hold self and others accountable for demonstrating Capital One’s values in all interactions.
Qualifications
- At least 2 years of Business Banking experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years of Business Banking experience.
- 1+ year of phone-based sales experience.
- Formal credit training.

Pay
The annual full-time salary ranges for this role are as follows (part-time salaries will be prorated based on agreed-upon hours):
- Sales Territory: $122,100 - $139,400
- Richmond, VA: $122,100 - $139,400
- New York, NY: $146,600 - $167,300
- Mandeville, LA: $122,100 - $139,400
- McLean, VA: $134,400 - $153,300
- Plano, TX: $122,100 - $139,400
Candidates hired for other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location. The actual salary offered will be reflected in the candidate’s offer letter.
This role is also eligible for performance-based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonuses and/or long-term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non-discretionary depending on the plan.
