VIN Design Engineer EIT

About the role

Vulcraft Indiana is seeking a talented and ambitious individual to assist the team in designing safe, accurate, and cost-effective structural open-web steel joists, joists, and steel deck at the plant located in St Joe, IN. The successful candidate will work closely with various departments including estimating, sales, detailing, project management, finance, production, and shipping to ensure project success.

Responsibilities

• Reviewing contract documents and noting important information
• Effectively communicating unique design requirements to the detailing department
• Utilizing design software to safely and accurately design open-web steel joists and joist girders
• Working closely with all departments to grow as an individual and an engineer
• Being willing and able to meet with engineers and architects in the Midwest construction market to discuss our product advantages
• Visiting job sites to better understand the construction process
• Participating in safety training and demonstrating the ability to uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times
• Earn a Return on Assets (ROA) bonus

Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or a related discipline from an ABET-accredited program
• Successful passage of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam prior to start date
• One or more years of experience in the civil/structural engineering or construction industry

Qualifications

• Previous experience at an engineer of record (EOR) consulting firm is preferred

Skills

• Proficiency in design software
• Strong communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams
• Knowledge of steel joists and joist girders design
• Understanding of construction processes and site visits
