Village General Manager
About the Role
Executive leadership role overseeing and managing Deer Valley East Village (“DVEV”), operating the world’s newest alpine luxury village. This position will operate and run all aspects of the newest luxury resort village at the base of Deer Valley, including public safety and security, homeowner associations compliance and operation, village administration, budgeting, policy implementation, facilities and grounds operations, procurement, event management, sponsorships, and overall guest experience.
Coordinate and work in conjunction with the marketing and chamber teams. Guide and develop the organizational structure while building a management team as the development progresses and reaches critical mass.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the central coordinator and manager for the day-to-day operations of Deer Valley East Village, ensuring guest experience and safety.
- Act as the central bridge between development, construction, and leasing prior to the opening of the Village’s anchor hotels (Four Seasons and Waldorf Astoria) and the Village Skier Day Lodge.
- Facilitate and operate the Mountain Master Association.
- Represent ownership’s vision in day-to-day decisions.
- Develop operational standards, governing processes, and the supporting organizational framework.
- Lead and facilitate the transition of design and planning into operational phases (e.g., security, maintenance, administrative efforts).
- Provide oversight, ensure compliance, and manage retail and commercial space build-outs.
- Cultivate the East Village’s vision, including planning and executing village programming and activations in partnership with marketing.
Upon the opening of the hotels and Day Lodge, responsibilities will shift to operational management, including:
- Management of village operations and infrastructure (maintenance, landscaping, security, snow removal, ice ribbon and amphitheater operations, vendor procurement, contract management, waste management).
- Oversight and management of both master HOAs (Mountain Master Association and Village Mountain Association), including governance compliance, annual meetings, budgets, DRC oversight, and dues collection.
- Retail leasing and tenant coordination, including commercial administrative oversight (rent collection, administration).
- Curation of the Village’s guest experience, including public safety and security.
- Procurement and management of sponsorship and commercial partnerships in partnership with marketing.
- Coordination with village marketing and chamber teams.
- Establishing and ensuring a luxury experience with consistent village standards.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field (required).
- Extensive resort property management or local government experience.
- Leadership experience in supervisory or managerial positions, ideally within resort property management, commercial and retail, or municipal settings.
- Proactive community engagement; experience in community relations and affluent stakeholder engagement.
- Ability to lead and motivate diverse teams, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
- Proficiency in budget preparation, financial management, and fiscal responsibility.
- Strong analytical abilities to address complex issues and develop effective solutions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with the public, staff, and elected officials.
- Understanding of challenges and opportunities facing the Village, Resort, State, MIDA, and surrounding communities, including tourism, marketing, safety, sustainability, and community development.
