About The Role

Snowball is seeking a talented and experienced Video Editor to join their team on a freelance, contract-to-hire basis, working remotely within the United States. The primary focus of this role is to develop and edit compelling YouTube content for Purdue Global, an online university dedicated to adult learners. As a Video Editor, you will be responsible for transforming raw footage into engaging videos that align with Purdue Global's mission, voice, and educational philosophy. You will oversee the entire post-production process, including editing, motion design, social effects, and thumbnail creation, ensuring each piece of content resonates with its audience and drives engagement. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a growing channel that aims to inspire and inform working adults seeking higher education opportunities. Collaborating closely with Snowball's YouTube growth experts and Purdue Global's creative team, you will help shape the channel's visual storytelling and strategic direction, pushing creative boundaries and experimenting with innovative formats to maximize viewer retention and reach.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of experience editing YouTube or digital-first content
• Strong portfolio demonstrating exceptional storytelling, pacing, and retention skills
• Proficiency in motion design and graphics creation using After Effects or equivalent software
• Ability to design eye-catching thumbnails that attract viewers
• Excellent organizational skills with experience managing multiple projects simultaneously
• Collaborative mindset with experience working cross-functionally with creative, production, and marketing teams
• Openness to constructive feedback and ability to adapt edits to audience preferences
• Passion for AI technologies and their practical application in creative workflows
• Bonus qualifications include experience editing educational, career, or personal transformation content, familiarity with higher education or edtech brands, and knowledge of YouTube audience engagement strategies

Responsibilities

• Edit YouTube content aligned with Purdue Global's mission, voice, and learning philosophy
• Own the pacing, story structure, and viewer retention aspects of each video
• Create motion graphics and social effects within the editing process to enhance storytelling
• Design and refine thumbnails in collaboration with the producer to maximize click-through rates
• Partner closely with the Producer/Director to develop and execute the creative vision during post-production
• Collaborate with strategists, marketers, and creative teams to ensure videos meet channel objectives
• Continuously analyze YouTube performance data and audience insights to optimize content
• Maintain high creative standards while ensuring efficiency, organization, and scalability in workflows
• Support the growth and engagement of the Purdue Global YouTube channel through innovative editing techniques
