Video Director (Life Insurance/Corporate/Talking Heads)
We are seeking an experienced Video Director to lead creative direction and end-to-end production of corporate and branded video content. The ideal candidate will oversee pre-production concepting, on-set direction for talking-head and narrative shoots, and post-production delivery to ensure high-quality videos that meet strategic objectives, brand standards, and deadlines. This hybrid onsite role is based in Springfield, MA, with a schedule of 30-40 hours per week through the end of the year, with potential for extension or conversion.
About the Team
The video production team consists of 1 video producer, 2 video editors/videographers, 1 animator, and this role (backfilling the video director position).
Responsibilities
- Lead creative vision and direction for corporate videos, commercials, and internal communications, translating briefs into compelling visual stories.
- Develop concepts, scripts, shot lists, storyboards, and production plans in collaboration with marketing and stakeholders.
- Direct on-set talent and crew during talking-head, interview, and narrative shoots to capture authentic performances and strong visuals.
- Operate camera and/or supervise videographers, ensuring correct composition, lighting, exposure, and audio capture for every shoot.
- Manage post-production workflow: oversee editing, color grading, motion graphics, sound design, and final delivery using Adobe Creative Cloud tools.
- Edit and assemble rough and final cuts when required; provide clear feedback to editors and motion designers to meet creative goals.
- Ensure all videos adhere to brand guidelines, messaging, technical specifications, and delivery timelines.
- Plan and manage production budgets, schedules, locations, permits, and equipment logistics.
- Maintain an organized media archive and backup workflow; ensure compliant file naming and storage practices.
- Mentor and collaborate with producers, videographers, editors, and external vendors to build a high-performing video production team.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional experience as a Video Director, Senior Videographer, or similar role producing corporate video content.
- Demonstrated experience directing talking-head interviews, corporate videos, and multi-camera shoots.
- Strong hands-on videography skills, including camera operation, lighting setups, and field audio capture.
- Proven experience in video editing, storytelling, pacing, and visual composition; strong portfolio or showreel required.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders.
- Comfortable working on set and in studio environments, troubleshooting technical issues under deadline pressure.
- Bachelor's degree in Film, Media Production, Communications, or equivalent experience preferred.
- Experience with shooting formats, codecs, delivery specs, and media asset management best practices.
