Victim Advocate II

About the Role

As a Victim Advocate II in the Denver District Attorney's Office, you will provide advocacy, peer support, and assistance to victims, witnesses, and survivors of violent and non-violent crimes, while assisting with trial preparation.

Responsibilities

• Assist with all witnesses at trial, including experts, law enforcement, and medical personnel.
• Provide support to victims of crime and their families who attend trial.
• Assist with trial preparation and post-trial processes, including sentencing and probation.
• Contact crime victims by phone or mail to provide information and victim impact statements.
• Review criminal justice documents, reports, and information.
• Coordinate with investigators, prosecutors, and other professionals to support victims and communicate about their experiences.
• Reinforce victims’ rights, provide resources, and address questions about criminal justice navigation with a trauma-informed approach.
• Assess victim needs, make referrals, and collaborate with community service organizations.
• Maintain contact with victims/witnesses to update them on case status and assist with services such as translator support, therapy referrals, transportation, protective orders, emergency funds, and temporary housing.
• Ensure services comply with the Colorado Victims Rights Act.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Human Services, Criminal Justice, or a related field.
• Four (4) years of paid or volunteer human services experience providing casework, case management, or trauma services to victims of violent or non-violent crimes.
• One (1) year of relevant experience may substitute for each required year of post-high school education, and additional education may substitute for experience.

Pay

Expected starting pay: $27.89 - $35.56 per hour, with a target range of $27.89 - $43.23 per hour based on education and experience.

Schedule

This position reports on-site from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM at the Republic Plaza building, 370 17th St, Suite 5300, Denver, CO 80202.
