Vice President - Strategy and Innovation

About the role

For our client, we are seeking a Vice President - Strategy and Innovation to join the team of a leader in the Pharmaceuticals & Biotech space. This leader will own enterprise strategy and innovation planning, with a strong connection to the annual operating plan and long-range growth priorities. The role will shape strategic trade-offs, evaluate new business opportunities, and translate complex market signals into clear recommendations for senior leadership. It will also partner closely with Product, Engineering, Corporate Development, the CEO, and the Board to support informed decision-making and organizational alignment. Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Responsibilities

• Set and maintain enterprise strategy and align it with the annual operating plan
• Frame strategic priorities and articulate the associated trade-offs
• Lead market intelligence efforts to track competitors and market dynamics
• Identify and assess medium- to long-term opportunities for business growth
• Build investment cases for strategic priorities, including market potential and economics
• Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and Corporate Development to provide clear guidance
• Support the creation of communications for the CEO and Board of Directors
• Mentor and develop strategy team members

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline; master's degree preferred
• 12+ years of enterprise and innovation strategy experience in enterprise software or related fields
• Proven track record in setting enterprise strategy and providing recommendations at CEO and Board levels
• Expertise in identifying and evaluating Horizon 2 and Horizon 3 opportunities with commercial impact
• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to structure complex issues
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas simply
• Executive-level presentation skills

Pay

Compensation: $227,500 – $295,700 annually
