Under the supervision of the Chief Operating Officer, this position manages partnerships and relationships involving IBA, Indiana Mortgage Bankers Association (IMBA), Indiana CRA Bankers Association (ICRABA), and other future opportunities. Responsibilities include leadership of the IMBA Board and committees, strategic development, event execution, financial oversight, and member engagement.
Responsibilities
- IMBA Leadership & Strategy
- Serves as executive director for the IMBA, providing overall leadership to achieve its mission, yearly, and long-range goals.
- Develops IMBA’s strategic positioning with volunteer officers; builds membership commitment to strategies and action plans.
- Initiates programs and allocates resources for legislative, regulatory, educational, and research initiatives.
- Operates the Association in a financially responsible and cost-effective manner.
- Identifies and develops volunteer leaders; builds coalitions and motivates groups toward favorable action.
- Responds decisively to crisis situations impacting core interests.
- Serves as liaison for IMBA committees, including Production, Compliance, and Technology Conferences.
- Administers IMBA affairs, prepares and recommends yearly budgets, monitors income/expenses, and controls capital expenditures.
- Reviews expenditures, approves expenses over $5,000, and serves as a check signer for all accounts.
- Ensures segregation of duties and control of assets to mitigate fraud risk.
- Supports the Board of Directors, committees, and task forces; prepares meeting minutes.
- Anticipates Association needs, recommends policy changes, and plans staffing/equipment requirements.
- Supports local IMBA chapter activities, provides communication, and assists with event setup and training.
- Reviews and finalizes chapter financials; submits payment requests for monthly ACH distribution.
- Legislative & Regulatory Engagement
- Communicates legislative/regulatory matters with the IMBA Government Relations Team.
- Interfaces with federal branches of government on key issues; participates in MBA leadership meetings.
- Works with volunteer officers and committees to develop coordinated programs and grassroots advocacy.
- Networks with trade associations, legislative contacts, and other parties to impact legislation.
- Participates in fundraising for IMBA PAC and political action programs.
- Education & Training
- Monitors growth and cost-effectiveness of educational offerings; encourages innovation and marketing.
- Organizes the IMBA State Convention, Production/Compliance/Technology Conferences, and Future Leaders Program.
- Handles event logistics: agendas, venues, catering, speakers, marketing, registrations, and sponsorships.
- Manages event details in Wild Apricot, including registrations, invoices, and customer service.
- Prepares meeting materials (badges, lists, evaluations) and oversees registration check-in.
- Compiles program evaluation results and prepares reports.
- Oversees marketing efforts for educational events (email, direct mail, social media).
- Annual Partnership Program (APP)
- Markets the APP and works with partners to create customized sponsorship/advertising packages.
- Implements recognition and benefits for APP members.
- Communications & Public Relations
- Works with IMBA Communications to disseminate news, analyses, and information to members and publics.
- Ensures distribution of the INgage newsletter and other materials; surveys readership interests.
- Disseminates IMBA positions and industry information to media and government officials.
- Gathers member news and provides an information base on current topics.
- Recommends and monitors issue-based research projects; disseminates results.
- ICRABA Management
- Oversees monthly membership Zoom meetings: sends reminders, agendas, and monitors calls.
- Manages the annual in-person meeting: reserves location, creates registration links, plans menus, and attends the event.
- IBA Associate Member Engagement
- Engages potential associate members to discuss benefits and opportunities.
- Creates customized marketing package proposals and agreements for sponsorships, advertising, and dues.
- Communicates marketing package progress to IBA staff and ensures fulfillment of benefits.
- Performs additional duties as required or assigned.
Requirements
- Proven leadership of volunteers with ability to influence disparate groups toward organizational goals.
- Maturity, persuasiveness, flexibility, and high tolerance for frustration; demonstrated interpersonal competence.
- Experience as an association executive, college administrator, agency official, or related role.
- Ability to learn the financial services business.
- College graduate; MBA or relevant advanced degree preferred.
- Flexible work hours and travel requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to achieve strong results with limited resources.
Physical Demands
- Frequent walking, standing, and sitting within the work area.
- Driving to/from locations for business purposes.
- Ability to lift office supplies/equipment up to approximately 50 pounds.
Pay
$70,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
