Vice President, Public Relations
About the role
Small Girls PR is looking for a Vice President to inspire and guide day-to-day creativity and strategy for brands within the general consumer lifestyle spaces including, but not limited to food and beverage, CPG, and consumer lifestyle. Our clients turn to us for long-term strategy, brand narrative architecture, creative pitch angles, and out-of-the-box ideas that bring their positioning to life in thoughtful ways.
As a team lead, this person will drive client relationships and lead junior staff to deliver. There is no one-size-fits-all for an SGPR client, which means your career will be enriched with meaningful and diversified experience. This role can be based in our NYC or LA office, working two days a week in the office on a hybrid schedule.
Examples of our work include handling mergers for GE, announcing Timothée Chalamet as the first-ever global brand ambassador for Lucid Motors, launching paranormal investigations with Ring doorbells, creating "buzzer beater" travel deals for Priceline during March Madness, and putting "The Pitt" star Noah Wyle in a red carpet tuxedo made from Figs scrubs.
Responsibilities
- Act as a creative thought leader, turning zaniest ideas into inspiring campaigns through weekly brainstorms, reverse engineering virality, and creating ownable moments for brands.
- Direct high-level media strategy, brand messaging, high-stakes communications, and engineer best-in-class results for accounts in your purview.
- Oversee day-to-day work and long-term professional development of 1-2 direct reports.
- Play a key role in new business by voicing passion for brands and developing proposals and concepts to win new partners.
- Maintain a pulse on the industry to creatively outpace competition with original campaign ideas, ownable moments, and strategic insights.
Requirements
- 10–13+ years of experience in media relations, communications, or public relations, with a track record of client leadership and trusted reporter relationships.
- Ability to identify trends, communities, and cultural moments before they hit the mainstream, turning emerging concepts into smart, timely campaign ideas.
- Experience dreaming up stunts or out-of-the-box PR ideas that others haven’t considered.
- Strong media relations skills with a robust network, eager to mentor others in networking.
- Organizational strength to plan, delegate, and prioritize effectively in fast-moving environments.
- Instinctive ability to craft compelling stories for journalists, bloggers, or broader audiences by tapping into what makes content shareworthy.
- Proven ability to earn and keep client trust through strategic counsel and steady partnership.
- Experience leading PR strategies that drive headline-worthy coverage while advancing the brand’s mission and vision.
- Track record of guiding teams to success, consistently exceeding client KPIs and goals.

Pay
Salary range for this role is $146,500 – $163,000, with an additional variable bonus based on performance targets outlined in the offer letter.
Schedule
Hybrid schedule with two days per week in the office (NYC or LA).
