Vice President of Marketing and Communications

Oversees marketing, external communications, and ministry partner experience strategies to cultivate a compelling and innovative brand experience that elevates visibility and engages partners for the organization’s mission and services. Plays a key leadership role in public relations, communications, and brand development. Establishes annual audience growth and revenue generation goals with the EVP of Development and collaborates with department heads to maintain brand consistency and achieve interdepartmental goals. Ensures all marketing and communications align with the organization’s vision, mission, values, Statement of Faith, and biblical principles.

Responsibilities

  • Growing Visibility
    • Generate and amplify opportunities for the brand to gain credibility and for leadership to be viewed as missions thought-leaders.
    • Oversee and support outside consultants in public relations, communications, and marketing technology (e.g., website optimization, Google and Meta Ads, CTV, direct mail, and search-engine optimization).
    • Act as the organization’s eyes and ears in the marketplace.
  • Marketing and Communications
    • Develop and execute a unified marketing and communications strategy, in coordination with Development and Field teams, to grow reach and support brand development.
    • Coordinate with leadership to craft compelling marketing messages and provide editorial review for all external communications, ensuring alignment with donor messaging and Development goals (includes email marketing, funnels, and lead capture).
    • Lead cross-functional PR, marketing, and communications brainstorming events to expand brand reach.
    • Serve as a bridge between Marketing and Development teams.
    • Oversee website and digital presence optimization, ensuring consistent visual, tone, style, and web standards that reflect the brand.
    • Collaboratively manage an annual communication calendar to coordinate scheduling.
    • Track key metrics through dashboard analysis and provide direction to optimize ad spend, engagement, and conversion.
  • Revenue
    • Develop and execute a revenue growth strategy for communications channels to support annual revenue goals.
    • Ensure the team has accurate information about field ministry activities for revenue-related communications.
    • Ensure consistent use of back-end systems to track revenue growth across communications channels and analyze campaign results.
  • Ministry Partner Experience
    • Donor Experience
      • Develop and execute a donor experience journey for all donor segments to foster growing engagement.
      • Coordinate with the Integrated Fundraising Department.
      • Create opportunities to learn from donors’ experiences and improve engagement.
    • Other External Audiences’ Experience
      • Collaborate with department heads to create and execute experience journeys for all external audiences.
      • Regularly evaluate external audience engagement against departmental goals.
  • Event Strategy Collaboration
    • Collaborate with the Events department to align event initiatives with broader marketing and development campaigns (strategic partnership, not direct oversight).
  • Team Management
    • Provide day-to-day leadership to the Marketing and Communications team.
    • Provide feedback on the success of marketing efforts.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Business Administration, or a related field (required).
  • Master’s degree in a relevant field (strongly preferred).
  • 7–15 years of progressive experience in marketing, communications, and/or public relations.
  • Minimum of 5 years in a senior management or leadership role with demonstrated success in leading and developing teams.
  • Proven track record of developing and executing successful, measurable marketing and communication strategies.
  • 7–15 years of ministry/nonprofit experience (strongly preferred).
  • Strong experience in brand management, including developing and implementing brand platforms and strategies.
  • Uphold a close and growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
