About the role

The VP, National News Finance will act as a financial and strategic leader for National News, partnering with the CFO of National News and editorial and technical operational leaders to achieve budget goals and drive efficiencies. This role reports to the Chief Financial Officer for National News and supports NBC National News, a division of NBC News Group that produces flagship broadcasts such as TODAY, NBC Nightly News, Meet the Press, and Dateline, along with digital and streaming outlets like NBCNews.com and NBC News NOW.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership in developing strategic financial objectives aligned with the long-range plan for NBC National News brands, including NBC Nightly News with Tom Llamas, NBC News NOW, and Dateline.
• Lead all core finance processes, including budgets, pacing, estimate updates, and long-range plans.
• Structure, coach, and develop a team of finance professionals while partnering with News FP&A to ensure accuracy of reporting.
• Develop tools and processes to provide insights into critical strategic operational areas, such as streaming investments and FAST monetization.
• Assist the CFO of National News and News FP&A with financial preparation and delivery of monthly operational reviews and annual budget reviews.
• Develop strong relationships with editorial leadership, including show executive producers, to guide and influence plans ensuring News brands achieve budgets and long-range goals.
• Partner with finance peers to implement operational and financial best practices, ensuring balance sheet stewardship and controllership.
• Provide financial guidance to the President/EP of Dateline and Dateline leadership to support expansion in linear, audio, streaming, syndication, and other areas.
• Regularly collaborate with Strategy, Production Management, Research, and Marketing to support brand revenue growth through product launches, content windowing, and downstream rights monetization.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in a finance or related role, preferably in entertainment or digital media.
• BA/BS degree required; BA/BS in Finance, Accounting, or a related field preferred.
• Excellent written communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage and influence across all organizational levels, including technical, creative, and executive teams.
• Proficiency with SAP; media/broadcast industry experience preferred.
• Proven leadership and management skills, with the ability to recruit, develop, and retain a high-performing financial organization and effectively manage strong personalities.
• Strategic thinker capable of serving as a credible thought leader in an experienced leadership team, identifying and vetting opportunities in a changing media landscape.
• Demonstrated integrity, excellent judgment, and business acumen, with the ability to play a significant executive role and provide strategic insights to senior leadership.
• Strong leadership and persuasive communication skills, with a clear vision, self-motivation, and the ability to work independently or collaboratively to inspire a team.
• Able to establish trust and rapport with both operating and financial leaders within and outside the organization.
• Prior P&L leadership experience is a plus.
