Vice President, Liability Operational Strategy
About the role
The Vice President, Liability Operational Strategy is empowered to enhance CorVel’s market presence in the administration of liability claims and the overall strategic goals and vision of the company. This role requires a high level of industry knowledge and relationships with insurance carriers, brokers, loss-sensitive insureds and self-insured entities. Reporting to the Chief Claims Officer, this position will closely collaborate with Product, Operational, and Sales leadership to ensure a cohesive vision and experience is delivered to CorVel customers.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
- Establishes a short- and long-term strategy for CorVel’s liability services
- Shares responsibility for meeting and exceeding profit and revenue goals annually
- Enhances CorVel’s industry verticals and practice leaders
- Participates in Marketing and Sales presentations of prospective clients and cross-selling efforts of existing customers
- Collaborates in the enhancements of corporate objectives, policies, procedures, and practices in compliance with CorVel’s Corporate and Quality Standards
- Supports national claims leadership in all aspects of strategy development, alignment and implementation
- Collaborates with support functions (IT, HR, Legal, Finance) to develop comprehensive solutions, tools and processes for the liability claims operation
- Provides consistent technical claims training and guidance to claims teams
- Leads the execution and financial performance of CorVel’s Liability Hubs
- Arranges and/or facilitates training of claims teams, as appropriate
- Advises, mentors, and counsels management team, as necessary
Knowledge & Skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills necessary for customer contact, negotiation, presentations, project management and personnel management
- Effective quantitative, analytical and interpretive skills
- Excellent leadership skills, with a demonstrated ability to motivate others and obtain results through teamwork
- Ability to function effectively under time constraints, consistently meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks in a demanding work environment
- Ability to travel overnight and attend meetings up to 50%
- Ability to remain poised in demanding situations and communicate diplomatically via various communication channels
- Ability to identify priorities, execute and multitask in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
- Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to utilize common computer applications; strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is required
- Strong interpersonal, time management, project management, and organizational skills, with demonstrated ability to provide superior service to internal and external stakeholders
- Knowledge of the entire claims administration procedures
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree with course concentration in Business Administration, or related field; or 10+ years of equivalent combination of education and experience in a complex insurance, or third party claim organization with significant sales and public speaking expertise
- Must have significant liability industry experience and in-depth understanding of the TPA marketplace
Pay Range
CorVel uses a market based approach to pay and our salary ranges may vary depending on your location. Pay rates are established taking into account the following factors: federal, state, and local minimum wage requirements, the geographic location differential, job-related skills, experience, qualifications, internal employee equity, and market conditions. Our ranges may be modified at any time. For leveled roles (I, II, III, Senior, Lead, etc.) new hires may be slotted into a different level, either up or down, based on assessment during interview process taking into consideration experience, qualifications, and overall fit for the role. The level may impact the salary range and these adjustments would be clarified during the offer process.
