Vice President, Operational Risk Coverage
About the role
The Vice President, Operational Risk Coverage role is located in New York, New York. This role is responsible for delivering second line of defense oversight across enterprise platforms, reviewing and challenging first line of defense risk and control activities, engaging in strategic initiatives, and staying current on industry trends.
Responsibilities
- Deliver second line of defense oversight across enterprise platforms ensuring alignment with the Operational Risk Management (ORM) Framework.
- Review and challenge first line of defense risk and control activities including RCSAs, KRIs, OREs, HLAs, business process changes and issue management to maintain accurate risk profiles.
- Proactively identify gaps, raise challenges and work with the first line of defense to ensure timely remediation.
- Engage and provide guidance on strategic initiatives and remediation projects focusing on risk management solutions that enable safe and sound business growth and promote strong first line of defense accountability.
- Stay current on industry trends and contribute to enterprise AI initiatives.
- Escalate emerging risks and recommend enhancements to ORM frameworks and practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent required; graduate degree preferred.
- 5-7 years' professional experience. Operational risk experience is preferred.
- Experience in First Line (business/control), Second Line Compliance, or Third Line Audit valued.
- Familiarity with Operational Risk Management Framework and tools (RCSAs, KRIs, OREs, Issues, Scenario Analysis).
- Develop and establish collaborative working relationships with colleagues in both 1st and 2nd Lines of Defense to ensure timely completion of risk-related deliverables, issue resolution and implementation of improvements.
- Strong data analytics skills; advanced proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
- Experience in AI adoption and utilization is preferred.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with senior leaders and stakeholders across all levels of the organization.
- Eagerness to learn, innovate, and explore new ideas.
- Strong critical thinking and analytical skills and ability to work with data and identify risk trends, patterns, and concentrations.
- Skil at delivering clear, well-supported recommendations in writing and verbally.

Qualifications
- Op risk experience is preferred.

Pay
The base salary for this position is expected to be between $68,000 and $130,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base salary if hired will be determined on an individualized basis, including as to experience and market location, and is only part of the BNY total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, discretionary bonuses, short and long-term incentive packages, and Company-sponsored benefit programs.
Schedule
This position is at-will and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, change in geographic location, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
