Vice President, Finance - Saint Agnes

About the Role

Reporting to the Vice President, Finance and Chief Financial Officer of Trinity Health’s West Region (Idaho, Oregon, and California), this position provides financial stewardship and direction to Saint Agnes through effective business leadership, strategy deployment, internal controls, and operating and capital budget development, monitoring, and management. The role supports other market and ministry executives within the Services Area, engages in market-level strategy alignment, and assists in evaluating the company’s success in achieving its goals while formulating corrective plans as needed.

This position manages teams of mid-level and senior professionals, leads or engages in multidisciplinary projects, and participates with senior management to address a broad range of financial, operational, and strategic issues. The Vice President, Finance is responsible for the integrity of all financial information and reporting for their area of responsibility and serves as a key member of the executive leadership team for Saint Agnes with a dotted reporting line to the President and Market Leader.

About Saint Agnes

Founded by the Sisters of the Holy Cross in 1929, Saint Agnes Health has provided high-quality and compassionate care to Valley residents for over nine decades. Originally a 75-bed hospital, Saint Agnes now operates with 436 beds and continues to lead healthcare in the Central Valley. The organization remains committed to healing the whole person—body, mind, and spirit—while adapting to the evolving needs of the community.

Saint Agnes and Saint Alphonsus Health System (Idaho and Oregon) joined to form Trinity Health’s West Region, optimizing operational processes and streamlining communication to focus on community care. Saint Agnes Care, a nonprofit subsidiary, includes primary, specialty, and urgent care clinics, with ongoing expansion of telehealth and online scheduling capabilities. The Saint Agnes Medical Foundation, added in 2017, supports growth in primary and sub-specialty care, now encompassing nearly 100 providers and a state-of-the-art outpatient imaging facility.

In 2021, Saint Agnes launched the Central Valley Health Plan (CVHP), a fully owned Medicare Advantage health plan with nearly 9,000 members. The plan operates under a unique model where contracted Independent Physician Associations assume professional risk, while Saint Agnes Medical Center retains institutional risk. Saint Agnes also supports six accredited physician residency and fellowship programs and is Fresno’s first nationally recognized Baby-Friendly Hospital. The organization remains dedicated to nurturing community partnerships to deliver high-quality care.

Responsibilities

• Provide financial stewardship and direction through business leadership, strategy deployment, and internal controls.
• Develop, monitor, and manage operating and capital budgets.
• Support market and ministry executives within the Services Area and engage in market-level strategy alignment.
• Evaluate organizational success in achieving goals and formulate corrective plans as needed.
• Manage teams of mid-level and senior professionals and lead multidisciplinary projects or initiatives.
• Oversee financial management, including revenue enhancement, cost reduction, financial report analysis, and operating budget preparation.
• Collaborate with senior management to address, interpret, resolve, and monitor financial, operational, and strategic issues.
• Ensure the integrity of all financial information and reporting for the assigned area of responsibility.
• Provide leadership in developing strategies and achieving performance goals for RHM and Market/Ministry leaders.
• Enable collaboration across the Service Area, RHM, and Markets to ensure consistency and integration of strategy and operations.
• Lead standardization, systemness, and optimization of policy, process, and methodology, establishing a national community of practice.
• Oversee vendor and contract labor management, including centralizing strategy and optimizing spend.
• Support system-wide strategy development and deployment of functional area priorities and initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with functional area priorities and accountability for the success of functional leadership teams.
• Serve as an organization-wide focal point for establishing functional strategies and governance over financials and staffing.
• Facilitate communication between the Service Area function, RHM, and Markets leadership.
• Implement and drive financial strategies for the service area.
• Measure and report KPIs/metrics and value delivery.
• Provide leadership for the colleague life cycle.
• Maintain working knowledge of applicable Federal, state, and local laws/regulations, Trinity Health’s Integrity & Compliance Program, and Code of Conduct to ensure adherence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or a related field (required).
• Ten years of experience in financial management with progressively increasing responsibility (required).
• Minimum of five years of experience as CFO, controller, or finance director in a hospital setting or complex service organization (required).
• Personal presence characterized by honesty, integrity, and caring, with the ability to inspire and motivate others.
• Master’s degree or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) (strongly preferred).
• Healthcare Financial Management Association certification (desirable).
• Experience working in a complex delivery system with a multi-specialty medical group and a Medicare Advantage health plan.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $236,000 - $355,000 ($113.46 - $170.72/hr.), depending on experience. The range does not include other incentives.
